confersense planners inc. President and Principal Meeting Planner, Chuck E. Schouwerwou CMP, (chuck@confersense.ca) is entering his third decade as a professional conference organizer. He has also earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry Council (click here to access their website). As Conference and Committee Coordinator for Health Canada's Division of Immunization from 1992 to 1999, Schouwerwou organized the Canadian National Immunization Conference and other immunization related conferences and meetings. He also served as administrator for a number of national advisory committees and working groups. Since founding confersense planners, he has had the pleasure of working with a variety of government departments, societies and associations, universities and private sector companies.

Schouwerwou has had the pleasure of being a guest speaker at a number of schools and conferences, often on the topic of the use of computer technology in the meetings industry. As a seasoned professional, Schouwerwou is called on to share his views on matters pertaining to the meetings industry.

Schouwerwou is also a Past President of the Ottawa Chapter of Meeting Professionals International. Internationally this association boasts over 20,000 members in over 55 countries. He is also a member of the Professional Conference Management Association (PCMA), the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), the Ottawa Tourism and Convention Authority (OTCA), and the Better Business Bureau.

Nicolaas Sont CMP (nick@confersense.ca), Meetings Coordinator, has been with confersense for over three years. He brings to confersense extensive overseas teaching experience, a Bachelor of Arts in History from Concordia University, and a certificate in Conventions and Meetings Management from Algonquin College. Nicolaas earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2011 from the Convention Industry Council (click here to access their website).

Nicolaas is a member of the Ottawa Chapter of Meeting Professionals International and serves on the Programs and Education Committee and the Community Outreach Committee.

 

 

Marie Marin (marie@confersense.ca), Registration Coordinator, has been part of the confersense team for over two years. With a background in communications and office administration, and a Bachelor in Journalism from Carleton University, she brings a client-centered approach to the management of online registration, travel and accommodation arrangements, and providing attentive and courteous assistance to all registrants and clients.
