Past and Present Tour

This tour is ideal for people who want to experience a Nova Scotian good time with Celtic music, great company, and great beer.  At the brewery your guests will experience true Nova Scotia history as they engage in a one hour tour of the Keith’s Brewery and then meet some new characters at the Stag’s Head Tavern.

You will begin with a tour of the Keith’s Brewery as it was in 1863 - actors in period costume and character will show you everything there is to know about Keith’s India Pale Ale, bringing the great Brewmaster himself alive in song and story. Next, you will move upstairs to the Beer Institute and have an opportunity to sample beers from around the world with the guidance of a spirited and friendly Beer Instructor in a relaxed setting. 3. Mahone Bay, Peggy’s Cove and Lunch in Hubbards

Time: Buses depart outside the front of the Delta Halifax by 9:00 am latest and return at approximately 4:00 pm

We begin in Mahone Bay for some light shopping and sightseeing.  Your guests will have an opportunity to learn some of the history of this beautiful area along the way.

Mahone Bay is both a postcard-perfect maritime town and an ideal base for exploring the stretch of coastline known as the South Shore."  Named one of Canada's best small-town downtowns by Harrowsmith Country Life Magazine, Mahone Bay is also considered by many as one of the most beautiful towns in Canada. Situated on a bay of more than 100 islands, our Nova Scotian town, which the New York Times calls "pretty as a picture", is a treasury of history, culture and 19th century architecture. The charming main street hosts an assortment of art galleries, specialty shops and living museum all within an easy stroll.

Romantic restaurants, comfortable small inns, golfing and a full service spa complement the serenity and natural beauty of Mahone Bay to make this a very special destination.

Next Stop – Lunch in Hubbards
Welcome to the Trellis Café in Hubbards on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia. The food served at the Trellis Café is home cooked and baked. Each day starts with the smell of whole wheat bread baking in the oven and fresh ground organic Fair Trade coffee filling up a cup. They use fresh local ingredients wherever possible. Fresh haddock arrives at the back door directly from the fishing boats, and eggs and meat are delivered from the farm. Real food!

From there it’s on to the Peggy’s Cove Tour
Peggy's Cove has been an artists’ and explorers’ paradise for well over 150 years.  This picture postcard village, on the rugged Atlantic Shoreline, stands on solid rock above the crashing surf. The coastline is famous for pirates, shipwrecks, rum running and sunsets. There will be plenty of time for exploring this unique area, and for those who wish, your kilted guide will take you on a walking tour of the moody cove and village, featuring the famous DeGarthe Sculpture - a beautiful granite carving which depicts the life and people of the area. Don’t forget to mail a postcard at the Post Office in the Lighthouse - considered by many to be the most photographed lighthouse in the world!
